Physiotherapy

What is a Physiotherapist?

Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities as well as they would like in their daily lives.

A Physiotherapist is a primary health care professional with an in-depth knowledge of how the body works, with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability. A physiotherapist's goal is to restore, maintain and maximize your strength, function, movement and overall well-being through manual treatment techniques and an active exercise program.

From an individual, problem specific assessment, your Physiotherapist will perform manual (hands-on) techniques, prescribe a personalized therapeutic exercise program, and provide essential education about the condition affecting your body. Your therapist will also show you what is keeping your body from performing / moving to its maximum potential, show you how to restore mobility and independence, and how to avoid or prevent further bodily harm.
